Multi-Fly Casts in Tennessee - the law

I recently read that a cast of three or more flies counts as an “umbrella rig” and hence is regulated in Tennessee. If the hook size is 6 or larger, then only one of the flies may have a working hook. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) has posted a drawing of a “size 6 hook”. So if you want to fish the old methods of using 3 or more flies in a cast, remember to keep the sizes of all hooks under size 6.

Good for TN, makes me wonder about everyone using casts of two or more flies where I fly fish since the regs here declare ‘singlle barbless’. Good post EdD, thanks.

I did not know that. Thank you. Was gonna try some Czech nymphing…but of course all the hooks would be much less than a 6.
