Muddy water again

Headed back to a pond that I like. Wanted to tie into some crappie.

Water is till high from the rain and muddy. The wind has been blowing and keeping the water stirred up. But it is a day to be on the water. Hike around to the southwest part of the pond.

Drop a white fly in the water a rod’s length out and it disappears about 6 inches down. Decide to fish the white fly shallow in the water column and use a heavily hacked Gilly a little deeper in the water. Make several casts in the same areas with each fly. Hoping this might attract some fish through their lateral line.

After about a dozen casts I start getting some hits. Can see that many of these are crappie and they dive into the weeds and that means that I do not get them in hand.

Move up the pond to a little deeper water and try this again. Finally land a few fish. Keep doing this and get a few more fish. I lose many more fish than I land, but I get enough to have a meal.

Had a good tie. My landing percentage would not make me a living in baseball.

Hope you can get out on the water.
