Muddled Carnage Green Drake SBS

Pretty happy with how the dyeing on the pronghorn turned out.

hook - Dai Riki 135 #10
thread - Danville flat wax nylon olive
core - 20lb mono
tail - moose body
body - 1mm foam olive/olive marker
wing - Congo Hair black
shoulder - pheasant rump dyed chartreuse (1Tbs Rit Neon Yellow/1 cup water)
collar/head - pronghorn hair dyed olive (1 Tbs Rit Golden Yellow/2 cups water, overdyed with 1 Tbs Rit Golden Yellow, 1 Tsp Rit Dark Green/2 cups water)

Part 1

Mash barb, straighten shank, brush shank with a little Super Glue and start thread at point above point

Make a loop in one end of mono, flatten other end with pliers (piece is about 4? long)

Brush on a little more Super Glue, tie in flattened end of mono

Clean, stack, measure (2x hook length) a small clump of moose body hair

Trim butts, tie in

Adjust angle down, hook loop onto gallows

Spiral thread up underbody, allowing moose hair to torque around mono core (length left uncovered up to personal discretion)

And back down to hook

Part 2

Tie in foam strip (about 2mm wide here)

Brush underbody with a little Super Glue, take 1 wrap of foam around hook

Continue wrapping foam up underbody, increasing tension as you get to the top

Brush on a little more Super Glue and wrap back to tie-in; tie off/trim, trim away mono

Tie in a clump of CH on top of shank at base of body with crossing wraps

Pull CH back, trim even with end of body

Prep rump feather

Tie in by tip; wrap, tie off/trim

Part 3

Clean, stack, measure (tips to end of body) a clump of pronghorn hair

While holding clump with right hand, pinch with left, allowing the hair to surround shank

Tie down with 2 soft loops, trim hair even with hook eye, pull tight and let it spin

Half hitch x 2, SHHAN, trim head to desired shape, trim out hair underneath

Scott
