Mozilla Firefox

I have recently been using the Firefox as an alternative to Internet Explorer.
I like a lot of the facilities on it but I have found that occasionaly it seizes up when viewing downloaded pages. I have no control of my mouse and the only way out is a power down.
It is a downloaded version, which I assume is no different from a CD version.
Has anyone else had problems with Firefox.

I have just started to use Mozilla, especially when the Sympatico search engine comes up with no answer, when I am trying an existing URL. NO problems to date, but I find I have to bookmark because it is like a politician, no short term, or long term memory!

I took Hans advice and went to the Avant browser and have never looked back…IE is a wannabe.

I have been usin Firefox for 6 mo. Have not your problems. Windows xp home. My only complaint is on certain sites if I refresh it takes me back to the to of the page instead of back to where I refreshed from.
You could always try the tech support standby: Uninstall and then reinstall. Sometimes it works. ie.- today I inserted my memory card and did not get the ususal window with options of what I wanted to do. (slide show, burn, save to computer). Turned my computer off, truned it back on…worked fine. Worth a try.

Donald, I’ve been using Firefox for a few months now and have not had any problems.

I an NOT an expert on this stuff, but it sounds like a problem I had in my old computer with a software conflict. Next time it happens, you might want to hit alt-control-delete to see what else is running at the time.

IE7 is in the works. Mozilla better hurry up, cause the show is about to be over.

Oh, I’m out there baby! And I’m loving every minute of it!

Is this Foxfire thing a new Rod?

(P.M. - it is a computer program)

I’ve got a little iMac that is now on the outdated list and I had to dowonload an older Mozilla program to try and keep up and access certain sites. For the most part it will do me well, however, there are days and times when it goes a little bonkers and I’ll get kicked off and shut off (still have dial-up, ya know). I’ll go right back and all seems to be alright. One time there was an iquirey from Foxfire asking me what kind of a malfunction I had just experienced.

Pats Man,its the rod that will put microrod out to pasture, just like Netscape did. everyone wants to be the giant killer… lol OK for the guys that cant take a joke my cat typed this

make a rod, catch a fish

I have used IE6, Mozilla Firebird, and Avant.

I have had no problems with each except for the fact that Microsoft is the main browser under attack by vandals (to keep it polite - I have better words).

Avant is really just a skin for IE - however I find I do not get any where near the junk getting through as I do when using IE. For performance and ease of use Avant is really the most advanced browser. It is my preference except for the fact I would prefer to stay as far away from IE as possible just to avoid attack. IE7 is going to have to make a major leap to compare with Avant - I do mean a very major leap.

Mozilla Firebird is my second choice for performance but my first choice for safety. The only real disadvantage to Firebird is I cannot get the cookies to work that will allow the light bulbs to work on FAOL. Other than that Mozilla has proven very good for me.

I used it for a few weeks and then dumped it. I just could not get used to it. I like my “0” wt better.

Patsman,
What about Maxthon?

Thanks for all the replies,
I may just incline towards Avant.
I was using it a few months back but when my PC went berserk just before Xmas and I had to do a basic restart, I never got round to trying it again.
This does seem to be the best place to get unjargoned advice.
