Moodah Poodah SBS

Found this over on the Fly Fish Food site. Kind of a hot-butt cricketlike thing; anything smaller than a #10, I’d switch to 1mm foam.

hook - Dai Riki 135 #10
thread - UTC 70 hot orange/Danville 6/0 black
rib - Midge Krystal Flash pearl
butt - Ice Dub hot orange
body - Ice Dub black peacock
wing - deer hair black
head/overwing - 2mm foam black
legs - medium rubber hot orange
indicator - McFlyfoam orange

Part 1

mash barb, start thread; tie in rib and wrap down bend

dub butt

start black thread, capture orange, tie off/trim

dub body up to 2/3 mark

counterwrap rib; tie off/trim

clean, stack, measure (tips to bend) a clump of deer hair; trim to length, tie in

dub head

Part 2

tie in foam strip (gap width) underneath base of wing

mark at eye, poke a hole with bodkin and push eye through; cross thread over top of head to eye

take a few wraps at the eye

cross thread over top of head back to wing base, pull foam back and tie down

add legs/indicator

half hitch x 2, SHHAN, trim legs, indicator, overwing (notch it, too)

Regards,
Scott

Nice tie. Looks like a bluegill killer.

Dave
