Another throwback (think Reagan’s 1st admin); dry variation (use your imagination) of the Hornberg.
hook - Dai Riki 320 #12
thread - UTC 140 tan
body - tinsel opalescent
inner wing - hackle fibers yellow
outer wing - Mallard flank
overwing - elk
hackle - brown
head - caribou
Part 1
mash barb, attach thread

tie in tinsel at 50% mark (original pattern called for silver, couldn’t find mine, so opalescent it is)

wrap tinsel to bend and back to tie in point

take a clump of hackle fibers, even tip

tie in, let it extend hook gap length

find a pair of mallard flanks with even tips; peel off fibers 'til they’re 1 hook gap wide and tie in even with underwing

Part 2
clean, stack some elk and tie in

tie in hackle

move thread forward to 75% mark

clean a clump of caribou, trim tips, 2 soft loops and let it spin

repeat, tie off thread and SHHAN

Part 3
flip fly over, lay razor blade on bottom of hook eye and push straight back

shape head with your favorite cutting devices

re-attach tying thread behind head, wrap hackle forward to head

tie hackle off and there you go

Nice pattern and SBS Scott. Looks like a winner to me.

Another pattern to add to my collection of spun deer hair flies.
Thanks!
