Montana is my favorite state to fly fish.I will be heading there in a week or so for two days on the Clark Fork River in the St. Regis area. A retired guide and good friend and I are drifting in his drift boat and catching lots of fish, I hope. Fall is my favorite time to fly fish, especially in Montana.Keep having fun, that is the main thing.Larry —sagefisher—
Fun is over for this round at least. . . . . We had rain starting Tuesday afternoon and it rained quite a bit the next 20 hours or so…we went and checked anyway late yesterday and it was slightly out of the banks and looked like creamed coffee. We called it a day for fishing and went high up looking for Mulies and Elk.Headed back to troutless (mostly) Indiana tomorrow. Had a great two weeks! Saw Moose in two different locations. Saw tons of Elk and Deer. And visited the “resident” Bighorn Sheep at Rock Creek over by Missoula. We also saw a place where a Moose had been eaten quite some time ago (bones clean and sun bleached) and we saw fresh bear scat in that location. This was a dry clearing adjacent just uphill to a marshy glen where we saw two of the Moose (live and luckily running away from us). Those jokers are BIG!
