Montana on a budget

Just finalized our arrangements for Montana in September. I am happy to report that an airline ticket into Bozeman is half what it was last year
($322.00) which for two of us is like getting a free float trip and three nights lodging where we stay. This is also at least $150 less than any other time in the last four years. I suppose it depends on where you are traveling from but it sure seems that if it was too expensive before, it might not be so bad now.

Bozeman’s served by a number of airlines (so is Billings), which also helps keep prices a little lower than other cities. My in-laws live in Whitefish and we can’t get plane tickets for under $700, so we fly into Spokane and drive over. Car rentals in BZN also tend to be a little cheaper than other cities in MT and they give you unlimited mileage, unlike Missoula and Kalispell. Hope you catch a lot of fish.

Which side of the park are you going to be on ?? If you are on the west side, maybe we can get together for an afternoon of fishing ?? Let me know.

John

I’m guessing that you will find the streams a little less crowded as well as less expensive.

Glenn,

If you’re going to fish in Yellowstone NP, please be aware that the road from Madison-Norris is going to be closed after Aug 17. That’s going to add a lot of travel time if you’re trying to get between West Yellowstone and the north side of the park (Gardiner, Cooke City, etc).

Scott
