Recently got some bucktails and love the smells that accompany them  .
Anyway, I never bothered to look on the skin but looked at some recently and noticed some mold on it (dead or alive- I don’t know).
Should this mold be of concern for my health or the life of the bucktails?
Do I need to do anything to prevent further damage if there is potential for damage?
Thanks.
wht color is the mold? If it is black toss the think in the trash or better yet burn it.
I’d apply chlorox bleach to the molded area, let air dry, wash the tail in laundry detergent, add some hair conditioner, rinse thoroughly, allow to air dry thoroughly and place the tail in a separate zip lock bag and use it when needed. If the mold shows up again, then I’d toss it and the bag out.

I have a lot of deer hair/buck tails with small dots of white mold (?)
I’ve had them a long time…
doesn’t seem to be a problem.
Ditch it now, IMO.
Thanks for your replies. I will check it more close to determine to keep or chuck it.

Are you sure it’s mold and not borax (from the drying process)?
Boiling it for about 15 minutes should solve your problems.
