Here’s one of the “The Iowan Brood” (Brood III) Cicada’s we have in Iowa this Summer. They are very numerous in some areas…so fish should be MUNCHING on these (or a reasonable facsimile):

While fishing a spring creek in Missouri a number of years ago, I saw some cicada flying around. The closest thing I had was a big stonefly pattern. When that big fly hit the water, there was an immediate fierce take.
I bet! Its probably similar to air-dropping bacon cheeseburgers onto a college campus. MAYHEM!
