Missing Federal Salmon Money

from Sat. May 9th issue of the Kitsap Sun:

"Washington,D.C.,
State officials and congressional leaders from throughout the Northwest were stunned this week to learn that the Obama adminstration had eliminated federal funding to rescue threatened and endangered salmon.

The news of the missing money - possibly as much as $90 million - was so shocking that 10 US senators and 20 us representatives quickly fired off a joint letter to the White House.

…When the dust settled, officials seemed to agree that the missing salmon restoration money was more or less an oversight occurring during the transition from one administration to the next."

What is even stranger is that former Washington Governor Gary Locke now heads that department (Dept. of Commerce).

There is no mention in this article on how/when/if the money will be restored.

What will it come to next

…hopefully someone will have the wisdom to close all coastal rivers, tidewaters, bays and coast lines to salmon fishing and especially to
offshore and commercial fishing.
