Do you think the back round color of eyes makes any difference?
Do you think it is better to have a back round color or will just a black dot suffice?
If you think color matters what back round colors would you pick …in descending order?
I think it’s better to have a background eye color.
Mine would be…
- Red
- Yellow
- Silver
- White

i dont tie alot of flies with eyes so i dont have a favorite. if i tie thunder creeks, i go with keiths recommendations as to what works.
I have some fluorescent chartreuse fabric paint that I really like, but I use silver glitter fabric paint too
Fabric paint is best for foam, but it also works on feathers and synthetics
Just squirt a drop out of the bottle
When that dries I add a touch of black nail polish.
No special tool needed, I just trim the applicator brush a bit and use that.
If I’m really lazy it’s just a touch of the black Sally Hansen right on the lead or nickel plate eye
