Here is the closest thing I tie to a mini-clouser. It’s the Ruffchuck. Drifted under an indicator, it’s extremely effective;)
The Ruffchuck
Hook: #8 Mustad C67S
Thread: 3/0 Red Uni-thread
Eye: Extra-small Tungsten hourglass eyes
Tail: Ruffed Grouse Marabou
Body: Amber Ice-Dub
Wing: Woodchuck guard hairs
Hi NJ. Do you fish that for trout? Neat pattern. I checked out site, too, and the LTDs look great.
Bruce
Yessir…it does very well for trout. I drift it like a nymph, at times 6-8ft below an indicator for deep runs and pools. Thanks much on the LTD. It’s a very productive pattern in it’s own right.
Okay Tim lets see if this works.
This is a size 14 hook with Mallard flank, Ice dub for flash and white marabou. The eyes are bead chain that i usauly dip in white enamel paint (this one was pilfered from my daughters build a bear dog tag.) When you cut them off from the rest of the painted chain it leaves a black spot for the pupil that really pops (might be too much effort but I like them like that I wil also use red marabou for a gill but on the smaller ones I don’t be cause I dont think you see them on live ones.)
Hope it worked.
This might be a better picture(s). Sorry if its blured. I didn’t want to set up my tripod (well actualy I did but I have been studdying to flunk a promotional and felt like i was goofing off.)
But I learned a few things:
A) I need to tie some mini clousers, I only had one in my fly box and had to tie this one real quick)
B) I need to get more squirrle tail (its funny when the cat plays with it and a dog can eat 2/3 of it in a 3 min phone call)
C) I didnt send Hap the Mallard feathers I said I would (If your reading this Hap keep the faith, but just in case I put you in my will)
Hi Steve,
I have never tried to take a picture of a fly, or post one, but will try in the next couple of days.

2 dumb questions -
1/16 of an ounce? That seems heavy
Ruffled grouse Marabou? I havent checked J stockard, but is that something that seems exotic…
LOL…probably right…just remembered they were the 16th on the package.
To be exact, they are the tungsten black “extra-small” hourglass eyes from Cabelas.
The marabou is picked off of a full skin. I used it because it had the colors and subtle barring I wanted. And it worked well so I stuck with it. I would imagine any “dun to dun/brown” mottled game-bird marabou would do well.
Sorry for the confusion!
That looks like a Crazy Maruka to me (used to be the best tomato pie place in Trenton).
Yes’sir…some similarities to the Crazy Charlie & Maruka patterns…at least in profile. A little from both the CG and the Clousers.
It provides a great swimming action suspended in the current when tied as such.
There is also a great tomato pie place (Daniela’s) in Bellmawr, NJ as well.

See you on the water,
Ralph
