Michigan Fish-In High-Lights

 What a great time!! I wish you all could have been there!
I hope everyone made it home safely. I arrived back in Evart just around noon.
Yes the fishing was slow!
Over 40 attended
The age’s ranged from 15 oto 80+
I took 3 float trips, 2 on the Au Sable and 1 on the Manistee.
ohiotuber & fat bill cooked up some 40 lbs. of Brisket for the cookout.
The casting demo was fantastic!! As was the slide show.
Eric Austin is one fantastic tyer.
Several of us received semi-private casting lessons from JC & LF
Kaboom1 won the casting contest with an 82’ toss.
Yours truely did a whole 46’!!
(taking a DT line to a distance cast is like taking a knife to a gun fight!!)
Jean DeSavage won the Redington rod  . (She deserved it after maning the registration desk every day)
Everyone that entered the casting contest is now a “Pirate” and have the documents signed by JC & LF to prove it!!
Photo’s and more reports will be coming soon.
AND, YES we will do it again next year!!

I look forward to the day that I make it to a fishin.Really wanting to put a face with the names I see here all the time.I have never met any body from here in person but feel like I have made some friends here.

Jack,

Nice to hear you made it home safe and sound! I was glad I got to meet up with you and Harvey(wireguy) for a couple of hours the week before the fish-in. Hopefully, I’ll be able to actually make the fish-in next year! Did you let those guys double haul in the distance casting competition?

Regards,
Doug(maxq)

Jack,
Hit the house about 2 pm. No problems. How about you come and un pack for me
Brad

HiJack

I did’nt get a chance to thank you and all the others who did so much work putting it all together.

So thanks

Jerry Risinger

Packed and ready!!
Countdown started! 350!

Jack, …

Thanks for the highlights.

Glad to hear all went well, no accidents either

Here wishing a safe return to all who may still be on the road (or in the air).

I am sorry I was not able to attend. An unfortunate accident in the family prompted me to fly to Oregon just as I was getting ready to drive up to Grayling. Things are OK now and I would do the same again if needed. I guess I will just have to tag along with Betty, 349 and counting. Thanks Jack for keeping us all in the news. You are one special guy. Jonezee

Interesting… http://www.flyanglersonline.com/lighterside/
Was that at the Michigan FI?

C’mon now… the camera’s were snapping and whirring as the Maestro did his thing. We need PICS!

I am starting to wonder if anyone did any trout fishing. I still have not seen any pictures of trout. :?:

Oh, but you will slinger09!!

Trout? we were to fish also? Sorry, not enough time in a day for that kind of nonsense
Brad

I had a blast. Though the fish were small, I thought the Ausable was one of the most gorgeous trout streams I’ve ever been on. I can’t wait to go back. We were there at a tough time, but it made absolutely no difference to me. All the people involved did a bang up job, and I met some terrific folks. JC and Deanna amazed me with their slideshow, representing many painstaking hours of research. And they do “Castwell”. Thanks to Jack and company for showing us one great time.
Eric

Well I finally got all my pictures sent off to JC & LF. I had a heck of a time, but next year, I should be more comfortable with sending pictures.
It was great putting faces with names, & of course, a number of us had already met. Let’s hope for a huge turnout next year. Unfortunately, I missed the slide show & Eric Austin as I spent that day in Wolverine on the Sturgeon River, where my cousins own property. That is also a beautiful river with some dandy trout fishing.
I’m rested up to the point that I think I’ll go fishin’ tomorrow.
Mike

He “goeth it aloneth without a side-kicketh”???
Isn’t LF JC’S side-kicketh??
Doug

she ‘kicketh’ someplace else!

Boy do I miss not being married!
She was the one who knew where everything was!!!
Now I can’t find NUTHIN!!!
Doug
P.S. Except my NOSE!

JC,
I just had this scary vision of you dressed up in a Superman suit!
How does that go? You leap tall buildings in a single bound and something about a locomotive.
Doug

Sorry Doug, that’s for next year. You’ll just have to wait.
