I hope that all of you that attended the 2006 Fish-In will chime in here as to the wonderful time we had. It was grand wasn’t it!!
Now, we are planning next years event and I’m asured it will be even better (I don’t really know how though!!??).
Yes we were scattered around for the first 2 days because on conflicting events at Gate’s Ausable Lodge. But we did a very good job of coming togather Tuesday afternoon and the rest of the week.
The planning committee (a more dysfunctional group than you’ve ever met) is proposing July 9th to the 16th 2007 to catch some of the Hex hatch.
Come on back with your ideas and start making reservations!!
If I’m lucky the puplishers will make this a sticky post!!
If I’m really lucky this old dude will be there too!!
We DID have a great time. While we missed the people who couldn’t make it, we sure did get to spend time with a bunch of wonderful folks. We were also treated very well by the staff at Gates Lodge, and I really enjoyed their fly shop. And how can ANY of us forget that absolute THIEF of a dog. It swiped everything from food to anything else it could grab. I’m just glad it didn’t have a taste for fly rods!
All in all, a wonderful experience…one that needs to be repeated.
Mike
Lock down the date and I’ll apply for vacation time. I eagerly await a chance to meet y’all. Maybe we can have a convoy up from the Nashville area, if enough locals are interested.
Mike, are yout talking about that very intelligent beast who quickly figured out that where you were there would be good food? You didn’t see him hanging around me or Jack did you?
I had a blast, and loved Gates lodge and the Ausable. Hope to be there next year. Money is sadly, always an issue here, but I’ll do my best to get there. That’s some of the most picturesque water I’ve ever been on.
Eric
At that time of July I’ll be up to my kneck in school audits. However, I noticed there was a Saturday in that date range (July 14th) so maybe I’ll be able to sneak over for the day. It would be fun to meet some more folks and fish water I haven’t fished before.
Mike
We will be there thats for sure. Next yesr though I do not plan on having a shoulder problem. ![]()
Bill

AMK;
Welcome aboard and looking forward to seeing you next year. I may have to look to you for advice on conditions prior to the Fish-In so we may just have to draft you into the “Planning Committee”!
I’m gonna have to set my camera on “landscape” just to take pix of next year’s “planning committee”!!
Mike
Although my wife and I could only spend a couple days at the Fish In, it was probablly the high point of our summer. What a great crew!! Supremely wonderful, gracious, generous people, and the setting is beautiful. Pretty hard to beat the AuSable for lovely water. It’s bigger than I’ve become used to, but very beautiful.
Thanks Jack and Mike. Ladyfisher and Castwell, as well as everyone that we met.
We definitely plan to return.
Bill
I will try to be there, as I only live half an hour away. I will also be working though, so I will only be able to attend part of it.

Welcome aboard and we will look forward to seeing you next year. If not before!!
Jack-As the official Fish-in-Meister, per your request to me as the official concierage of he upcoming 2007 delegate committee, I have contacted Kim, the manager of the Wilderness Bar & Grill in Dundee Michigan and have requsted a menu for our host of delegates, which she said would be forthcoming. After dropping the hint that a certain atendee, AKA Jack Hise, was a very benovelent and extremelly large TIPPER, she dropped everthing and started calling me Sir, where upon the scene changed from casual conversation to how many would be attending? Of course a table for 40 is not unwarranted and would of course allow us full use of the facilites, I had her undivided attention. I remain very faithfully yours, Jonezee, conceriage in training.
