Come on Byron! Tell us what the hook is?
Cheers,
A.
Sorry,
A #16 Klink
Thanks,
What do “they” say? “Something or other is the best form of flattery”… …
chuckle There was a smilie…
The more the merrier.
I see you wrapped your hackle all the way through the thorax, Byron, and it reminded me of the method Dave Hughes uses for his “flymphs” and I’m wondering about wrapping all my soft hackles and even nymphs this way?
Herefishy,
Why not?
I use peacock a lot as an under wrap. Fish seem to love peacock, so I do too.
I think it adds a bit of life as well as irridescence?
As I was wrapping my peacock, I thought of all the peacock dubbing imitations out there and thought why in the world would anyone not use real peacock? It’s so easy and so beautiful.
Very nice!!
Really like these!
You must be one of the Dutch Masters?
I take it the soft hackle is Brahma?
Thorax is hare?
You rang sir?
My Stalkers are called FMJ
Mart,
Nice ones ![]()
Not that different from my companion pattern to the Midnight Stalker, one I called the Midnight Walker

Midnight Walker
Hook: Scud hook, medium wire #14
Thread: Sparton 6/0, black
Hackle: Starling
Abdomen: Ultra-wire, black, single layer
Rib: Ultra-wire, black
Thorax: Argentinean hare, dark brown
Cheers,
Hans W
So, who “invented” the “Full a Metal Jacket” type fly???
Flavalina
I sorta like the two-color combination.

Thanks for the compliment Byron, don’t consider myself a master through ![]()
I do tie at shows and publish some stuff nonetheless.
Hackle is Brahma indeed, and Thorax is grey squirrel or hare - whichever I find first.
Well I saw Marc Petitjean use this technique to form a wire body 12 years ago at the Danish Flyfair. The FMJ reference was mine ![]()
I hereby dub thee one of The Dutch Masters.
