The "6 X MM club, will consist of anyone able to catch a fish “measured in millimeters, because they’re too small to measure with a standard ruler” and caught on 6X or, lighter, tippet!?
Here’s my entry, caught on 7X, at about 24mm on the Kilchis River here, in Oregon this summer.
Thankfully, the strain on my rod wasn’t enough to damage the blank, but I still, didn’t run the risk of stretching my net bag out of shape, so hand landed this killer without using it. That will add about 3 more points to my overall score at least!
I caught a very small Largemouth Bass a couple years ago on a popper that pretty much filled its entire mouth (and it’s not easy filling a largemouth’s mouth). A guy down the shore from me asked if it was what I caught or if I was flinging bait…
I was laughing too hard to take any pics back then but it likely would’ve qualified for this thread.
Kaboom; So, where in the home did you hang your mount? (Mine, is in my tying room, next to my 37 pound Jackalope I shot with my repeating rubber band rifle).
By “Club Standards and Practices”, you’ve earned over 51 points, in the standings, just for the very well done picture,(with the fly still in the quarry’s mouth)!
Thwack, don’t worry, about “not having a picture” to back up your record catch. You’ll get 27 points, for laughing too hard and another 33 points, for taking a smart A$$ remark from another angler and not popping him one, in the kisser. 11 points for actually “filing up a Largemouth’s mouth”.
I had NO idea, we had so many talented fish hunters in our midsts!?!!
Wild One;
You’re welcome!
First, I hate anything that smacks of serious competition, having to do with fly fishing, whether it’s casting distances, or number and sizes of fish landed.
I know, that the other “clubs” that are posted, here, are all in fun, too, and I enjoy reading about their qualifying fish as well.
But, I was trying to start a “club”… that I was pretty sure more of us could “belong to”, than some of the others!?!
And, by the pictures I’ve seen posted, so far, I guess I made the right choice for club “qualifying rules”!!! Some GREAT pictures, to be sure. Like some have also posted, “they dislocated limbs, broke rods and burned up drags” apparently, to bring these qualifying fish to hand, too.
Man, what a dedicated group of hard line fisherman, these FAOL members are!
Some of those make the 4" smallmouths I caught this summer look like monsters. Some of the blue gills I caught might qualify though. I wish I had a pic of the blue gill I caught a few years ago, spin fishing on a rapala that was bigger then he was.
