Lotsa rain here lately, rivers and streams are very high. Even small still waters are high, and some are quite muddy. Gave it a shot anyway. Caught Largemouth Bass, a White Crappie, 8"-9" Green Sunfish, Bluegills, Redear Sunfish, and some decent Redear x Bluegill hybrid sunfish.
Also discovered a Three-toed Box Turtle, saw some young Northern Watersnakes, and brought a Red-eared Slided (turtle) to shore where it set itself free.
As always, David - Great pictures and story!
Great photos David. Are the Green Sunfish the ones with the larger mouths?
Dennis
Thanks, Dale!
Yes. Green Sunfish have large mouths, are wonderfully aggressive, and very common throughout the midwest. Their eggs or fry must hitch rides on waterfowl, because they are never stocked, but find their way into almost every body of water. Probably the easiest fish ever to catch, and are often found close to shore. They also commonly hybridize with other sunfish.
Nice bunch of fish.

Thanks Rick!
