March Brown Dry

This is the March Brown Dry (Triple Hackle): Image http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l289/flyfishingunlimited/trihackle2.jpg
Has anyone ever tied or fished with this fly?
Thanks,
Doug

Can’t say I have Doug. Looks kinda scary though! I bet it would work wonders on rough water though…I gave up dry flies because of rough water…I’m a happier person for it though.

Doug-
this fly looks very interesting/cool- i would bet it fishes well in the right situation!

I really like this pattern, it is very simple and looks
like a great floater. I shall have to attempt it and add
it to the March Brown collection on my site.

No, mine are much more minimalist. Gadwall flank tail, Superfine dubbed body, CDC wing on a dry hook.

The only photo I have is this, and you can’t see the details of the fly

March Brown (West Country style).

Hook: Size 14 TMC 101
Silk: Orange Pearsall.
Body: Hare?s Ear dubbing.
Rib: Small oval gold tinsel.
Hackle & Whisks: Indian cree cock.

This fly was not on any list,
purely my own invention.

This fly was dressed as a West Country wet,
i.e. using cock hackle.
It could like many of the other W.C. wets be used as a dry fly. With a slightly shorter fibred hackle,
wound in a more upright fashion.

There is a French fly - L’Assassine, that resembles the fly you showed. Yellow thread body, with a grey hackle, palmered over the body, and a partridge front hackle. Dynamite fly!
Mart

You are right Martin - l’Assasine is a very good fly.
