I am posting this fully ready for grief  I really like Boo, but I just dont have the means to relly get into it. I am for the moment going for the vintage glass untill they catch Boo. Nuff said now the reason for post. Was at an Estate sale today and found an older spinning rod with all cork handle and slide rings. Got it for two bucks and when I got it out in sun could read the sticker. Sila flex glass. Here comes the madness/genius. Got it home found it likes a DT5. Its 7feet long so Im thinking putting snake guides on it and use it for combat fishing. Okay let me have it. I welcome any comments, Ive got a tough hide.
Lemme know when it’s done Clyde, then come down and I’ll try it out on some smallies ! Hey, if it likes a DT5 and it’s 7 feet and cost 2 bucks, it can’t be a bad thing !
Cheers,
MontanaMoose
P.S. I have a Lamiglas telescoping
spinning rod…7 feet…feels like it
would throw 3, 4 and maybe even
5 wt DT…thinking about putting
single foot fly guides on it and a
fly handle. Ok, let me have it now !
P.P.S. The Silaflex might be worth
some money. Not sure.
Clyde, you don’t need a tough hide in this place, you just need to get to the bench and build that rod. For two bucks you certainly can’t go wrong. Be sure to post a pic or two when you git 'er dun!

I’ve done that
Spinning rod, cork seat /grip combo, sliding rings.
All I had to do was replace what was left of the old spinning guides with fly rod guides.
It casts a 5wt okay, a 3 thru 7wt lines too.
It just doesn’t cast them well enough so that I’d want to use it
A bottom of the pile rod forsure
Clyde, sometimes I fish this tiny Fenwick spinning rod as is. I think it is less than five feet long and the darned thing casts just fine with a wf3f on it and with those wide guides. Go for it; I will bet you enjoy yourself.
