Mad scientist

What’s the deal. I seen on a post here about his hi-float fibers not living up to the name. I had received some before that post so I tied up a size 18 Black Caddis for my Driftless trip next weekend. Put it in a cup of water and it sank like rock in seconds.

I’ve never heard of a complaint about his products, just maybe his shipping. Very strange

I would use my own judgement regarding the names put on materials. If it merely another synthetic maybe the addition of water repellant is implied.

Yea, go on his youtube channel and he shows how to brush it out to start so it’s the best floating material going. Check it out.

And that’s what you did? Used the dog brush?

Well my daughter’s cat bush , same thing.

Dave,
I wrote that post about the Hi-Float fibers. I did everything he recommended about brushing out the fibers with the dog brush. The fibers are extremely soft and easy to work with, they just don’t float. At least yours floated for a couple of seconds. Mine sank immediately.

Should be easy enough to use either Mucilin or another floatant to fix this problem, although I’m not sure why you should have too. Standard polypropylene works just fine in the same application, without treatment.
