There is a local manufacturer here in Boise called Loon Outdoors. While walking through the new Cabella’s store I found thier line cleaning kit that contained a sheep skin tensioner/cleaning pad, line speed cleaner and stream line lube. The stream line is supposed to be for everytime use after you fish and the line cleaner for up to three times a year to protect from uv and fill in nicks. Has anyone heard of this? I have great hopes that it is good stuff. Or did I get suckered in by the packaging?
Walking into Cablea’s is like being the only guy at an all girls school, kind of distracting.
I have used the Loon Line Speed product for years and like it very much. I do not have any applicator or kit, just apply it with a rag. I have used some other loon products such as knot sense and their soft weight. IMO Loon seems to have good stuff.
The local store (not chain store) I like to use also carries a lot of Loon’s items. They are great. I’ve used several of their items, and yes, I clean my line after I fish. Does my line last longer and float better? Not sure if it actually lasts longer, but it still works like the day I bought it.
I haven’t used the Loon Products but I do use a product called “Mucelin Silicone” (green label not the red label) I clean and apply every time I fish. It is a paste with a pad supplied. I don’t know if it extends the life of the line BUT… it sure makes all my lines float much, much, better. Easier and longer casts. Can’t say enough.
NF,
We have some of the stuff in the little bottle and an applicator.
Does it get used religiously? NO! And it is because of this lack of self-decipline that we kick ourselves so hard in the posterior when we DO use it. It seems to work GRAND.
