I need to ask where is the best place to buy fly trying material and hooks that I need. I have been everywhere from Bass Pro to some of the web site’s I have found. I so far have bought stuff from alot of different places, but I really would like to find a place where their prices don’t go up and down that often. If there is even such a place at all. I will look that any advice someone will give me. I just don’t care much for making small orders to four or five different places and then have to wait on them all to get here. I thank you for any input anyone will give me. I know without a doubt this is the place to ask. Big Thanks!
Hello ninja, some of our sponsors carry fly tying matls.
Cheers,

I don’t believe that any one supplier will carry everything you want though some may try to get what they don’t carry if you are a regular customer. I am sure that you will not find a single supplier with the best price and best quality of everything either. If I’m wrong please let us know when you find them.
Charlie Craven’s shop carries virtually everything you need for tying and he ships orders.
http://www.charliesflyboxinc.com/ If yo haven’t already done it, check out his tying instructions while you are on his site. They are great!
http://shop4.mailordercentral.com/hookhack/ If I buy online I buy from this place and The Hook & Hackle Company is a sponsor.
As Rainbowchaser suggested, not all places are likely to have all the materials you want. Keep an open mind when you’re out and about. Hobby Lobby, JoAnns Fabrics, the neighborhood pet store, the petting zoo, are all possibilities. You’ll be surprised at what you can find!!
I too, would suggest one of (or many of)our sponsors here on FAOL. You can be assured of their reputation, and the quality of their materials.
Don’t forget pets, Betty! All you have to do is feed them, let them out occasionally and/or scoop out the litter box/cage, and you’ve got a great supply of fur and feathers at your fingertips!
Oops, I guess I should clear this up. I do mean this sincerely. If you can buy it from a sponsor of this site, you should do that. We all enjoy and appreciate this site and giving some business to the companies that sponsor it is a good way to be sure it keeps on going. I do mean this sincerely! There have been times when I intentionally bought from a FAOL sponsor in order to thank them.
I mentioned Charlie Craven’s site only as a place you can go to when you can’t find it elsewhere. My post was prompted by an earlier one on the thread that said no place has everything you need. My experience has been that Charlies’ shop does have everything. It is really remarkable as a source for tyers.
About a year ago I was trying to tie all the flies needed for a planned fishing gathering attendance in PA. A lot of the flies reco’d for this are not found in the Rockies. But Charlie’s shop not only had the required materials, he helped me personally to select what I needed.
I’ve never researched how his prices compare. I suspect they are not far out of line, but I don’t know. I just know that Charlie is (1)a heck of a tyer, (2) a really nice guy and (3) the owner of what may be the world’s most tyer-oriented fly shop.

I want to thank you all for the advice and I am looking into one of the sponsor’s of this site for some of the stuff I need. I knew if anyone would know this is the place to get the answers. Just starting out in this art there is alot to learn and the best way to learn is by asking those who have been there before you. Once again I thank you all in your help and I look forward to viewing this site for more information as time go’s on. I will look into the site you all gave me so I can try to narrow it down to about three of them to order from. God Bless and Keep Safe. Roger.

i buy almost everything from hook & hackle. it’s been awhile since i’ve needed anything they don’t have. and you’ll have to search far and wide to find better prices. customer service is also excellent.
