This is really a shot in the dark but I recently saw a rather generic steelhead fly that I figured would be easy to remember but I’d like to check it out again and can’t pull it back up.
Wondering if any of you know it?
It was tied as a nymph…purple… the tail I believe was purple krystal flash which was then continued as a shellback over the fly…body I think was dubbed and palmered…as I said I think it was all purple…maybe the body was black???
I have typed in the “search” window every combination I could think of to find this pattern for you and have not had any luck. I did look in one book I have, Woolly Wisdom, and under steelhead flies, the only fly pattern I found was called the Umpqua Dredger but it did not match your description. It was all purple, but, tied very much like a bugger with bead chain eyes. If you remember any other details of the fly you are looking for, post them here or PM me and I will gladly keep searching.
