He tail snagged a 4-lb carp shortly after this picture! That was fun to watch!!

Oh, he is no rookie fly fisherman. He catches trout quite often, but wasn’t too sure how to approach warmwater species with his fly rig. So I gave him a hand full of flies and we caught a few!
He had that smile from the first fish on until we left last night. Black size 12 furled tail leeches have been HOT lately!
Well the Memorial Day stupid hatch is starting to happen in full swing at the lake! I decided to go out and see if I could find a spot out of the way to catch a bluegill. Go figure, the spot I found was right in the camping area!
Rick Z, the fish around here hate you for sharing that furled tail leech! I’ve been bringing a lot of 8" bluegills to hand because of that fly. Kept 5 nice gills and an 11-1/2" crappie. Here’s the nicest gill…
The fillet knife is starting to find its way around the fish a little faster, too. I had been practicing C&R the past few years and hadn’t cleaned many fish! Now I’m getting some nice clean fillets in short order.
Tomorrow morning will be my last trip until early next week. That stupid hatch gets too thick for me to be out!
