The 7 Day float thread got me thinking???
what rivers you could do multiple day drift boat trips on. In Michigan the best I know of would be about 3 days with either the manistee from 72 down, ausable starting in Grayling, and PM in baldwin. I am hoping that you could post trips that are 4 or more days from around the country. Flyfishing must be good to excellent but could be trout or smallmouth. Since this would be in a drift boat there cannot be any portages. There would also need to be camping available along the way and good access to launch and retrieve a boat at each end. I am open to rivers in Canada and the US (alaska would be to far).
I am very interested in what kind of responses I get because I am finding that there are lots of rivers that have great streaches to float but only have canoe access or portages along the way.

Oregon’s Rogue river is long enough for multi day floats, including some fairly hairy white water in the lower section. Grant’s Pass and Gold Beach (mouth) are major towns on the Rogue…ModocDan

I don’t know about Drift Boat access to the Middle Fork, but I guarantee the 100 mile trip is unbeatable by Raft.

Grande Ronde River - WA & OR.
I haven’t been on it for several years, but the Buffalo River used to be a great smallmouth fishery. I have heard that it has declined. Access to camping places could be an issue.

Thanks for some great posts. I expected post like the Desutes and the Rouge. But personally even though I would consider myself an above average rower on Michigan streams I would not be comfortable with anything over class 2+ rapids without a guide to show me the ropes on that river first. I do feel comfortable with tight lines and obstacles but no experience with real white water. The Grande Ronde River sounds like a beautiful float but maybe not the best fishing? I will have to investigate that a little more. I am surprised that no Montana rivers have been mentioned yet? (Yellowstone, flathead, big hole, smith?) Please keep the advise coming.

Truly some great rivers.
The Ronde is one of the greatest summer steelhead rivers in the west. Remote, wild, an outright spectacular desert river. I was there a few weeks ago and in 3 days landed no less then 8 steelhead with several LDRs. 3 or 4 of those fish were taken on surface flies and likely many more would have been if I had fished the surface more. You will have trouble finding another river where such fishing can be had.

You can probably row the White River in Ar. for a few days. About 70 miles of it are trout water… Some nice 'uns in there too.
