Brian

Hey Brian;
As the UK is behind us in our efforts we ( at least I and mine) are with you in your strife.
Perhaps the BBC will now call a spade a spade and refer to these fanatic lunatics with the appropriate nomenclature " DIRTY BASTARD TERRORISTS"

Mark

Brian, all of us here in the “Colony” wish y’all the very best. Our hearts and prayers are with you.

Snow on the roof but with fire still in the hearth

Aren’t there bulletin boards that concentrate on terrorism? I like this one because it is about flyfishing. What does terrorism have to do with flyfishing?

That may be so ktokj, but the members here are people and we care about one another.

Plus, there are a number of our own FAOL family who live, and work, and fish in the UK. When one family member suffers, or is in pain, a
we all suffer and share that pain. That’s what families are all about.

Well said, flyangler and Betty! 8T

Hey Ktokj:
It just occurs to me to ask you what kind of mindset must you be in to post such a PC statement. Trust me, I couldn’t care less as to why YOU like this site. I like it very much too and apparently for VERY different reasons.

Mark

Brian, your Commonwealth friends are also behind you. I am confident that we will ultimately defeat these cowardly bastards. God speed. Rick Bennett, Canada

ktokj, flyfishing is a fabulous past time. Terrorism strikes at our lives and values. We are all brothers & sisters in both arenas. Sometimes we need to discuss our lives and values rather than fly fishing. The administrators of this site, JC and LF, have always had the kindness and good grace to let us do this. Please don’t interfere if you can’t contribute.

All,
I have contributed immensely to this board over he years, helping people on a wide variety of topics. I come to this board to talk about flyfishing and I am weighing in that I don’t want to talk about terrorism, politics, the military, and other non-flyfishing related topics. Can’t you respect my opinion, and not try to bash it? Geez, you don’t think I know that terrorism is important and affect our lives? Do you think I’m some kind of simpleton? Give me a break. Let’s get back to talking about flyfishing and leave all the terrorism and politics to a forum that is set up to talk about it. Just do a web search, you’ll find hundreds you can say your peace to.

For the record, the company I work for is based in the UK. In fact, two people work with on a weekly basis live less than 3 hours from London. Do you think that I don’t care about them or what’s going on? No way. In fact one of my co-workers can’t understand why Americans go around spending so much time in fear worrying about terrorism, instead of just living life to its fullest.

So to the few flames I got, all I can say it relax, get out on the river, and do some fishing. You obviously need to step back from the computer for a while.

John,
There is a very simple solution for you - don’t read the posts dealing with subjects you don’t wish to read. If our readers wish to share their feeling with other fly fishers who they see as friends, we will let them…we are living in difficult times. For many FAOL is the only safe place they have.

Thank you for your opinion, it is important as well (even 'tho it isn’t about fly fishing either.)

Like our home land had cowards attack us on 9/11 you now face these same poeple that do not have any feeling for life nor a rational mind. My thoughts and prayers are with all in London. Our two countries will not tolerate or allow such acts to go unpunished. We here in the USA understand and support our friends in England. Hang in there and don’t let them stop your way of life. For if the USA and England change there ways than the terrorist have accomplished their mission.

Certainly my prayers are with my sister in law, nieces, FAOL family, and ALL others in the UK.

This forum has created many bonds among us & as stated before, FAOL is an extremely caring family. As LadyFisher stated, if we don’t approve of, or don’t have interest in a post, we don’t have to read it. Personally, there are occasionally posts I don’t agree with, but I just bypass them. The fact that I disagree doesn’t mean the other viewpoint is wrong. Prayer requests & the like are often posted here because this forum is the most widely read.

Ladyfisher -

I hear what you are saying, but in this case I honestly thought the post was about fishing in the UK. Like I said the company I work for is in the UK and I’m getting excited about fishing there. I saw a post called “London” and I’m thinking great, somebody is going to talk about fishing around London. Then I get to the post, and it’s about terrorism. See where I’m coming from? If people posted something like “off-topic” or whatever in the title I’d know when to steer away, but it’s not always obvious. I guess maybe I’m being over-senstive, I just hate to see such a great board going more and more into topics that have nothing to do with flyfishing. I’ll just have to do my best to stay clear of those posts from now on.

Best,

-John
