Hi Bill,

This pattern comes from a time when some things were 99 and 44/100 percent pure. This is the rest of it - the 0.56% fly.
Yup, it’s from Tom Nixon and the pattern is as follows.

4Xlong hook, TDE, bronze or gold Aberdeen, size 8 - 16.
Tail is lemon colored wood duck flank featers (or dyed mallard)
Body is Oxford gray yarn with a yellow yarn belly stripe.
Hackle is grizzly, stripped on one side.

The fly should be weighted with ten turns of .025 wire (for a #10 hook), adjust for other sizes.The body should appear long and lean. Hackle is tied in by tip at bend of hook and palmered forward in wide, sparse turns.

The recipe can be found in “Fly Tying and Fly Fishing for Bass and Panfish”, revised 1990 edition, page 83, and color plate on page 89.
