Photojoe it is not a automatic (spring loaded) in fact the link above at the yahoo aution is the exact reel I got green in color. could not find anything by google. got it for my boo. also got a pflueger 1495 DA made in the usa and about 100 flies and two extra spools one for a pflueger 1494 and one for the pflueger 1495 both old both made in the usa. I collect pflueger reels if I can get them for the right price. Also got about 100 flies some salmon and steelhead in antic fly boxes all for $62.00. I just have not ran into a southbend reel before

Sorry for the delayed respone. Been busy building 'boo rods all day (well, the “grunt” work for the rods- splitting culms, sanding nodes, flaming, repeat…times 30). My suggestion would be to post on the Classic Reel forum over on the Classic rod Board http://p205.ezboard.com/bclarksclassicflyrodforum

You’ll need to register, but it’s free and definitely worth it. There are a TON of knowledgable reel guys on there, and I’ll bet they could answer just about any question you might have. Hope this helps.
