I have a 5wt. TCR on order{in this week I hope}
I want to pick up a couple of new lines this week.
I’ve been using airflo lines mainly for the last few years and thought it was time to ask around for others preferences in 5wt floaters and sinking/sinktip lines.
My prime concerns are floatability and accuracy in the floater and distance in the sinktip/sinking line.
For the Sage TCR I would get a Scientific Anglers Mastery Series “Expert Distance” WF-5-F. This is the top distance floating distance line on the market, it also has the AST for slickness.
The LF and I both use the Sage TCR for all of our 5wt. fishing, but I can’t keep up with all the new fly lines. What I like, you may not. Just get a good one, that rod deserves it. What I mean to say I guess is, if you fish in close you might like one line, if you fish way out, you might want a different one.
It takes a good caster to get the potential from the rods. Be sure to practice with it if possible.
I ran to the post office at lunch today.held my breath as I opened my box and yee haw my new rod was there.Couldn’t hardly wait for quitting time to test it out.I hauled tail home after work,picked up my son
and headed for a pond close to our home.
I had tried TCR’s before but now that I had my own I dug a little deeper into the rod.I am amazed at the amount of line you can pick up off the water with it and lay it right back down with no false casting.
We only played for around 45 minutes but we both caught a half dozen or so fish.
