Lindstrom Rena Caddis SBS

A simpler version of the Renaflua, Norwegian tyer Stephan Lindstrom gets credit for this design. Original used a small chunk of melted hot glue to hold the wing in place; UV resin is much easier to control.

hook - WFC Model 3 #14
thread - Uni 8/0 rusty dun
body - Ice Dub hare’s ear
hackle - grizzly
wing - Congo Hair shiner tan

Part 1

Start thread at 80% mark

Tie in a hank of CH; trim butts and wrap to bend

Dub thread/dub body to base of wing

Post wing

Tie in hackle, shiny side out; wrap to top of post

Add a little more dubbing at front

Wrap hackle down post; tie off at base of post (normally I double half-hitch at the base but I brain-farted and forgot so I just did it at the eye and dosed with Sally)

Part 2

Apply a little UV resin at the base of the wing

Press down on the base with your finger and pull straight back on the wing. Hit it with the flashlight.

Trim the wing and Lars er din onkel

Scott
