I am getting ready to start on a Batson 6’6" 4pc 2 wt rod and I found a cork and ring combination seat and grip at Jan’s Netcraft. Does anyone know anything about this product. Looks perfect to me for a small finess rod.

looks like a nice handle and it will fit you blank I would buy it.
I always wanted a rod with a cork seat looks nice
Greg I have used 3 or 4 of those handle kits from Janns on light weight rods and they are pretty good. I did do some slight modifications to a couple of them to cut down on the length of them somewhat, but hey, for $11…you can’t go wrong with them!!
Greg
That’s the same handle that I put on my 6’6" 2 wt. I like it a lot. If you like the sliding bands, I think you will be satisfied.

Those were exactly the type of replys I was hopiing for. My blank arrived today and it looks great. Next week I will order the handle/grip then the balance of the components the following payday. I’ve used these types of handles on ultralights for years. Sliding rings are just fine with me.
Thanks again,
Greg
Leo,
Does that handle kit come assembled?
Nice “old-school” look w/the slide band.
All this talk about banty rods lately has got me thinking about giving up on trying to find a butt section for a set of 32" mid and tip and making it into a banty for small streams in the Sierras.
Just got my cork grip from Jans Netcraft yesterday and it is exactly what I was hoping it would be and it is perfect for the 6’6" 2wt rod that I’m building.
Greg
Greg,
Is it assembled as (1) complete handle or is the grip and reelseat separate?
Quinn
Actually no. One piece starts at the end of the grip(at the winding check) and extends back half way into the reel seat area. The second piece starts there and ends at the butt. The kit also includes two aluminum slip rings and three cork stoppers to plug the hole at the end of the but section. The end result will be seamless. I’m impressed for $11.00 dollars. I have paid more from grip and seat assemblies that did not have this good of quality cork.
Greg
I used this set up on both a refinished 4wt and a Banty rod I built a few years ago. Looks real nice and holds the reel quite well.
I did make a few modifications, I polished the rings with rouge to make them shiny. I added a wood butt and a matching wood winding check, just for show.
I am very happy with how the grip has turned out. It looks great and I’m sure that it will perform the same. It is perfect for this little rod. Thanks for all of the imput.
Greg
Ok, so I finally got the rod put together and I’m ready to apply the flex cote high build. This wil be my first time so I really need some advice.
Greg
Do yourself a favor … get some Permagloss. Excellent finish for light rods - hard, durable, flexible, light, dries in minutes and VERY difficult to make a mistake with.
