…as he starts a new job. After to talking to him last evening, it sounds like Mikey (ohiotuber) is looking forward to going to work again each day. He was not happy at his last place of employment, and it sounds like the new job is a first class operation with great people to work with and work for.
Good luck on your first day on the new job. Make sure to take the boss a dozen of your best flies!:p:p
Joe,
Thanks for the post! You guys are all great.
My last job in a small collection agency was “heading downhill” in a hurry. The new job is as a “Corporate Collector” in business to business collections with YRC (Roadway & Yellow Freight having merged). What I saw & heard before was that morale, communications, & ethics there were “A1” & I saw just that today. Strange to take on a new job at 62 years of age, but I am pleased. They held a Department meeting this morning to introduce me & the “mood” there is VERY positive. It is a good situation.
BTW…my boss is NOT a fly fisherman, but he is a Reserve Colonel & has served 2 tours in the Middle East. He & I immediately hit it off when I first interviewed.
Mikey
ps: Rewarded myself with a Tilley Hat (LMT6 Airflo in olive)
That is great, glad you like it, it is always good to be somewhere with a positive attitude and good morale. If the boss is a reservist he will know all about keeping up morale!
All the best.
Mike.
Congrats on the new job hope it works well, as for that 62 age thing. I just started a new career at 63 as a commission sales consultant. First time I have sold a product since I as 8 or 9 selling White Clover Salve. Working my back side off and loving it. Had great meeting this week with a little company in Memphis with 4,200 locations each one using what I am selling. Then a couple of good meetings with the casinos in the Tunica, MS area.
There is some great looking water down at Harrah’s in Tunica but no apparent provisions for fishing it. The oxbow lakes along the Mississippi River are being restocked from the river right now so fishing should be great when the river going back down. It was to the bottom of the levee this week.
Good luck on the new job Mikey. Coming from someone who had his vacation time reduced from 3 weeks a year to 1 week. I hope all works out well for you.
