Les Johnson on Coastal Citthroat

Really happy to see Les here. His article on fly fishing for coastal cutthroat is a great read, as is his norm. I know there are at least a couple of us hard core coastal cutt fishermen here who are hoping to see more of Les’s writing.

Great article by Les. I to agree with Les in that the cutthroat is over looked by most and as far as I am concerned that is just fine. I have taken a number of fisherman on thier first trip targeting sea run cutthroat and many of them never realized they had a world class fishery right outside thier back door. The sea run cutthroat is my second favorite fish to persue and second only to the steelhead by a slim margin.

Wonderful article. I started fishing for the sea run cutthroat when I was just a kid drifting nightcrawlers thru the tide water on the Coquille river. Don’t see many people fishing for them around here anymore and that is ok with me. When my uncle was still living here we would put his boat in the river and toss flies along the willows hanging over the water in the evenings.
