LED Light Recommendations

Hi all - looking for recommendations for a cheap LED light for my portable tying kit. I have a couple of the daylight lamps but lugging those around is too much. I’ve seen the Peak light, but at $140 it seems way too much - hoping for something $40-60 at most. Any suggestions or pointers? I’ve seen people recommend just the basic LED table lamps, but to get a precise product rec and URL from a regular tier would be awesome.
Many thanks,
JW

Would a head light work?

If you’re near an IKEA check it out. A few months ago they were selling a portable LED lamp for $10. The nearest one to me is 2 hours away or I would have bought a few.

Depends on what you mean by portable, but I use a Petzl headlamp when going really light, and an Ottlite portable modelotherwise

Lowe’s had a LED on a long flexible support that came in both a clamp or pedestal version.
I opted for the pedestal at about $10. Biggest advantage is super the light weight.
Trivia: colors are white or black.

Wally world had black goose neck pedestal led for 15 or 16 bucks. I squish it in the backpack I use for a tying kit on the road. Its worked great in quite adverse conditions. And no worries about a bulb. I use the daylight lamps at my perm station too.
Sorry don’t know the brand

Thanks all - much appreciated.

It was the clamp/pedestal light suggestions I was looking for - the Ottlite looks great, but at 4.5lbs is way heavier than wanted - and main use is when tying on a table at cabin or other location so head-lamp not really a requirement.

Sounds like people find those standard cheap LED lamps with flexible neck enough for the job?

Look at Wasatch Angling’s LED light - it’s $40, plus $10 for a vise mount. (It comes with a weighted base.) It works for me and fits in my portable tying kit.

I use an Ott light at my camp, works well for me. Check around I picked mine up for 50% off a couple months ago.

That heavy Ottlite is the flourescent model. The newer LED models are under a pound.
4AA model for $17 on Amazon
3AAA model of $26 on Amazon

If you want a cheap one, the IKEA led light is hard to beat. I use an IKEA Jansjo lamp. I removed the base and mounted the rest on a piece of aluminum with a hole the size of my vise stem, Cf. the pic below. Works like a charm and can take a beating!
