On 10/04/06, I posted on here about my Dan Bailey waders which were allowing water to come through the membrane and making my undergarment damp. Not wringing out water wet, just damp. Someone suggested I return them to Dan Bailey and see what they done and to make sure and post on FAOL the results.
I mailed the waders out to Dan Bailey by Priority Mail about 2 weeks ago and today I received an e-mail from them stating that they had shipped me new waders on the 13th and that they should be here on the 19th. They said that it usually takes around 3 weeks turn around on replacing waders.
To me, that is good customer service and they need a “pat on the back” for it!
Warren,
That’s great. I also think that a person’s approach to a company will have something to do with the type of result you get. I know that your communication to them would have been nice, and so was the result.
Mike
The LF and I used to work for Dan himself years ago. Fine gentleman. His son, John runs it now and has greatly expanded the operation.
I can’t help but think that some other person might have said,“What,I’m supposed to go almost a month without my waders? You call that customer service?”
Like Mike said, attitude is everything. I hear nothing but good things about them.
When I sent the waders back I included a memo stating exactly what the waders were doing. I explained that if it was a leak because of a hole, I could have patched it, but, in this case the water seemed to just “walk” through the material and made my undergarment damp all the time. I asked if there was anything they could do for me to correct the problem. I let them know that I had an older set of Dan Bailey waders I could use until we corrected the problem. The e-mail from them was from the store manager, Jeff Welke, and he was very courteous and helpful. By the way, I told him that I teach a Beginners Fly Tying class and I get asked by the students where to purchase fly tying supplies and equipment and I would give him positive feedback plus I let him know that I was a member of FAOL and that the members had asked for me to report back on the results and I would post a positive post for him. Overall, the customer service I received from them was very good and I would recommend them to others.
I had a very hard time doing an online order with Dan Baileys that I wont rate them as high as everybody else. On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being the lowest) I would give them a 4.
