Had other fishing species goals for yesterday…but the target location was 100% ice covered. Backup location was 65% ice covered…water was clear. only saw 3 fish, and they all spooked when I cast to them.
Option #3. Muddy cold water, few visible fish, and they were mostly deep. Catching was a struggle. Managed 4 Koi and 2 Goldfish on fly gear.
We are not fond of hard water ourselves. Dulls the chainsaw cutting a hole long enough for even short casting.
Love the reports, of course.
We do have some nice crappie waking up at Clearlake…
…lee s.
Oh yea…and soft water too!
Looked through several recent reports Dave. Great pics and enjoyed the words/stories that went along with them.
Went out tonight to a city owned pond for about 90 minutes. I’m a bit hobbled on a broken knee/torn quad tendon with a crotch to ankle brace so stream fishing is kinda out for a while.
Didn’t catch anything tonight but it was still nice to get out.
Thanks again!

I swear if everyone had go through a semester of fishing training and fishing before they could get out of High School the world would be a much better place.
I ride a motorcycle which is also a very cleansing activity. Honda had commercials that talked about “You meet the nicest people on a Honda” (or something like that)
I think if we had a fishing commercial it might say “You become a nicest person from learning how to fish (properly)”
No, that doesn’t sound “catchy” but it’s still true.
Not sure I’ve ever met a crappy fisherman (someone that embraces it as part of their lifestyle,) but I have encountered a handful of crappy acting people that just happen to be out fishing.
