I Registered on Larva Lace’s Website and this is what I found;
Peak Rotary Vice, also two less expensive Rotary Vices.
Lab Board, For cutting materials.
Flex LOC Head Cement designed for use on synthetics.
Net Bonnet, Fits over your Net to seine your stream or Lake.
Microfibetts.
Floss Flex- Feels like Floss, but stretches like rubber.
Body Lace Material (Clear), Wrap an underbody of Krystal Flash and the Clear BL Material instantly has an Exo-Skeleton. The Disco Midge Fly on the Site looks like an example.
BugSkin. This is a BIG selection! Some very interesting patterns. Also Web Wing material.
Doug, THANKS!
Used Larva Lace for years, now and until your post, never had any idea they carried so much “other stuff”. So I signed up for their newsletter, also, after cruising their site for a while.
Something hit me funny, though, about their “Uni-Thread link”?? They only carry ONE color of 8/0? Or, did I just read that particular page wrong!!??!
Paul
flybinder,
I was surprised about the UNI thread selection & the Tinsel selection. There must be some explanation for that.
I’m very picky how well or not well I can navigate a Site, but it’s not a nav problem, just stuff missing!??
I like Larva Lace because they seem to focus on making better flies with interesting materials.
Doug
I too found a few things that they just seem to have one of like the uni thread. Perhaps they are in the process of building the web site and the rest are just not typed in yet. Anyway as Doug pointed out Larva lace has lots more stuff than you might think. Nice catch Doug.
Well, I got my Bugskin. Although I haven’t tied anything yet I think it is promising. I ordered the black color and it is nicely grained and lifelike. The thickness is about 1/2 mm I would guess. The only down side I see so far is the price. I was a little disappointed to find only 1 pc. the size of a standard index card for my $6.
Since you only have an index card piece, do you know if someone manufactures punches you could use to make sure you get as many effective pieces for flies?
Hope that makes sense!
Doug
That’s a good thought. I don’t know of any off hand but if the flyshops don’t turn up anything the craft shops might. The scrap bookers have punches in all kinds of shapes intended for paper or card stock but this stuff is thin enough they would probably work.
