What a great design for a book! The split page approach is a fantastic idea. Ladyfisher, is there some kind of “code” with the colored background shown in you photo of the book pages? Do the backgrounds of blue, green, brown mean something in particular like recipe, technique, materials, respectively?
If I already have Benchside Reference, would this book be redundant?
Lets say you had two books. One with step-by-step patterns, the other book with all of the ‘how to’ methods. If you opened both, and found that the ‘pattern book’ ‘on each step’ referred to the exact page in the methods book… you would have this book.
More convenient bound into one spiral book though.
The background colors on all the fly tying steps is the same, green. The instruction photo backgrounds are blue with the exception of a few which are red. No idea why, except maybe someone didn’t like that particular shot and redid it?
I do not consider myself a tier anymore as I haven’t tied in years, but I did teach tying a long time ago and found things in the book I didn’t know…there are also some patterns which are not common to any other fly tying books. It is very well done.
