Rick
You get well Rick. We can wait.
ga… bladder infection…sounds painful. i definetely cant get mad about a lack of quotes for an excuse like that. get well soon
I hope you feel better soon. I have been threw that once; not fun. Get well, and return to all of us with your great humor and wit.
Rick take care of yourself, and get well. I do enjoy the quotes.
That’s terrible, Rick. Get well and feel better soon.
Hey Rick,
Get better, go fish some, then post the quotes when you feel better. BTW, thanx for posting the quotes in the first place; they’re great fun to read!
Jeff
I am feeling better today, But no fishing, Ie prolonged exposure to sunlight for about 10 more days.
Rick-
Rick, I hope that you are feeling better and heal up quickly and completely. We shall patiently await your next entries.
Take care,
Ed
I’m happy the quotes are back, and will be even happier when your back in the canoe. JGW
Ya know, if we combined the working/functioning parts of our members here on FAOL we might be able to come up with at least one or two people who could produce a complete new issue of the FAOL magazine for Monday. Hang in there Rick, we can commiserate with you.
By the way, if anyone would like to know the cost of medical care for a smushed big toenail, it has eaten the largest part of a $500 bill so far. Pain and suffering not included. No price on the humiliation caused by not being able to wear real shoes yet.
Hope it is better by snowfall.
Your walking (limping) wounded, LF.
My miseries pale in comparison to what some of you are going thru. I’m just going to suck-it-up and be thankful for what I have.
“I thought it was terrible that I had no shoes, until I met a man with no feet.”
Joseph the Thankful!
Rick.
Here’s a prayer for your speedy recovery.
Jeff
Rick,
Sorry to hear about your condition, and I hope it clears up soon. Luckily I’ve never had a bladder infection, but yesterday a couple of low-end beers I drank tasted like somebody’s horse has one.
Ladyfisher,
Here’s hoping your shoulder rehab starts going better (and the big toe improves, too) or that you find some meds that don’t knock you down so far. That said, you must agree at this point in life that you’re better off barefoot and knocked down than barefoot and knocked up.
As for whether some of us FAOL readers/members/contributors have the moxie to produce issues of this site…I suspect it would take a considerable amount of equipment and adult supervision before any one person, or even a committee of us, could handle something like that. I am willing to take on a small part of such a task but have no idea what portion I could handle. A LOT of computer savvy certainly is needed. Well, I’m not the world’s most competent (or confident) person when it comes to computers. But if there’s anything I can do to help, I will try – if your rehab turns into a long distance ordeal, which I hope it doesn’t.
By the way, I appreciate the story you wrote not long ago about the device that helps with Carpal Tunnel? Just before I left for the Fish-In I started feeling numbness and tingling in my left little finger and left ring finger. It steadily increased to include pain and throbbing in the left hand (that part got really bad once I got back to Kansas). But now after a month of cutting WAY back on playing my bass guitar, and not spending quite so much time on the computer writing, it seems to be getting better on its own.
At age 60 my wheels aren’t falling off yet…but the lug nuts are starting to get loose.

“Better small than not at all.”
I smushed a big toenail when I was a kid
At the emergency room the doctor took one look at it. Unbent a paperclip. Heated it in an alcohol burner and poked it through the nail relieving the pressure
The next time I smushed a nail, I took care of the problem myself
Joe, there are quite a few nuts loose on this board, ya bug lug.
Ed
P.S. Hi Jack!
