Kolzer's Firefly ( variation)

Local cutts have shown interest; tied here with foam body/Bomber style wing.

hook - TMC 5212 #10
thread - UTC 140 hot orange
tail - deer hair dyed dark brown
rib - x-small wire copper
body - 1mm foam orange
body hackle - brown (undersize by 2)
wing - deer hair dyed dark brown
hackle - brown

Part 1

mash barb, start thread at 3/4 mark

clean, stack, measure (2x gap width) a clump of deer hair; tie in/trim butts, move thread to point above barb

clean, stack, measure (gap width past bend) another clump of deer hair; tie in, trim butts at wing bump junction

tie in rib

tie in foam, wrap to wing; tie off/trim

Part 2

tie in hackle; wrap to tail

capture tip of hackle with wire; rib body, helicopter end, cover with thread

pull wing back, set angle with thread dam

tie in hackle

wrap hackle, tie off/trim, whip finish, SHHAN

Nice variation. Hard to believe this is supposed to be a caddis pattern. Your variant might be a nice salmonfly pattern, if tied a bit bigger. Thanks!
