Knot Sense

My favorites: --Turtle Knot — Blood Knot ----Perfection Loop —Davey Knot --Have Knot -----Why knot share some others

Most often, Wind knot. 35 mph gusts today
Rick

The knot I use to attach the fly to the tippet is the Turle Knot. 100% strength. It is a lot like the Orvis Knot but with the Orvis Knot the fly stays within the loop as you tie and with the Turle Knot, the fly is allowed so slip down the tippet then slid back up to go thru the loop. What knot and setup are you fellows using for tandem flies , ?

I’ve never fished a tandem rig. It’s’ hard enough for me to keep one fly where it belongs. Line to leader = Blood Knot. Leader to tippet= Perfection Loop. Tippet to fly = Improved Clinch.

What I do with tandem flies is use a blood knot and only trim one end leaving anywhere from 14-24? and tie on the second or third fly , I have seen some tie the flies with a piece of material directly to the hooks , but I use a barbless setup and likely it will come off, - Also recently -I ran into a gent that tied the fly by way of the original one fly knots. I think I will give this a go as well.–Using the blood knot for me takes extra casting care to not get tangled- I do like to swing a wets or nymphs this way using a dry on top as the indicator.

Same for me on a one fly setup…But some times I like to walk and chew gum and trip over my own feet…—Rick, - I am a master a tying wind knots :)–This is a good setup:------https://currentseams.files.wordpress.com/2014/12/wet-fly-three-fly-team.jpg

Growing up where there are no trout, I’m a better bream fisherman than a trout fisherman, but I fish tandem rigs for both, depending upon circumstances, I use the Duncan, aka Uniknot for attaching flies to leader and dropper to floating fly. My all time best result was 32 bream, mostly shellcrackers on 16 casts, non-consecutive.
