Hans Van Klinken has an article and tying sequence photos of his Klinkhamer Special on a site called Danica, but it asks for written permission to copy it. Does anyone know how I can get that permission and is the same article on this site? The premise of the article is that the has been tied wrong by many people and I agree.
You need permission to ‘copy’ the photograph by Hans, but you s/b able to ‘copy & paste’ the link at that site.
Is that what you want to do ?
Hans posts here often, shoot him a PM
he posts under his name so it shouldnt be too difficult to find him.
BTW thats a great article.
Why not just save it as a “bookmark” on your computers hard drive for future reference???
Thanks! The reason I want to print it is because I don’t have a computer at home. I realize in this day and age that’s hard to believe. I’m afraid I’ll spend more time than I want to on it. LOL!
Hans had an article in one of the fly fishing magazines last year on the Klinkhammer. I can’t remember which one, but I’ll look it up when I get home. It had all the tying instructions and everything.

have you checked your message center
Checked my mags when I got home. The article is “The Klinkhamer Special - How to tie the classic deep-hanging emerger”, text and photos by Hans van Klinken. It’s in the December 2006 issue of Fly Fisherman. The photos and directions are excellent. I haven’t had a chance to tie it yet, but am planning to try it this season. Hope this helps.

If you are printing for personal use, I don’t see a problem. This is the internet after all.
Here use mine
Thanks for all the help. Is there another hook that will work? Those Partridge hooks are expensive and the sizes run big.
Any scud hook, preferably light wire, will work. TMC 200R’s can also work in a pinch.
Joe
True, but Hans is pretty definite about the hook for his pattern- and he doesn’t like scud hooks.
Chuck
Partridge BN15 or bent Tiemco 2487 – not much difference

Interesting premise…

lastchance,

Are you sorted now, or is there still a question? I was out of town for the past couple days, only now catching up on the threads.
Cheers,

Just got done taking a tying class and the K.H Specials were part of the subject matter.
After tying several failure flies to figure out how to quite wasting good material I discovered
that these flies are not terrible to tie.
Actually they are a very nice fly to tie, give it a go. They’re fun.

Yes, interesting and wrong as far as I can tell.
Here are instructions Written by Hans Van Klinken. I find his technique for tying the hackle very effective for tying small parachute flies (note - I use Griffiths 14/0 instead of Spider web)
Thanks, Hans! I was able to get a copy of one of your articles. Can’t wait to try them.
