Do you use them? I love this pattern on the diverse possible combinations of materials and size. I am using one lately, which I tie on a dark olive (Antron Sparkle Dubbing) body, and brown hackle. Size 10, scud hook. The results are fantastic.

I also love this pattern. When I hear/see a rise, this is usually the first fly I tie on. I tie these from 14 to 20 dubbed and biot bodies, colors to match. This will get a rise long after the hatch is over. If that don’t work, a comparadun will. Gotta love those low riders.
I also use these a lot, but I tie them on a Tiemco 200 hook and bend the first 1/4 of the hook. Seem to get better hook-ups with this hook than a scud. Try adding fibbet tail in the middle of the fly, gives the silohet (m/s) of a much smaller fly.
