Kingfisher Fly Rod Rebuild

Heres a rod i got off ebay fer 35$… The cork was seperated, had 5 guides missing as well as several of the wraps and the varnish had a dark crackled apearance… heres pictures ive got so far… Ill add more as i go along…

When I first got the rod.

After striping the finnish, adding the new guides & wraps.

Roughed in new cork and 1st coat of varnish on the rod after the colour gaurd & epoxy on the wraps

The finished complete rebuild all new wraps, guides, varnished rod / tip case & finished cork grip… The rod still aint completely done till it lands its first fish… When that hapens there will be 1 final picture underneath done

Ok folks… the rod was finnished sunday morning at the blue river in oklahoma… just got the picture of its 1st catch uploaded so here it is… Measured just a hair under 24"… Me & the wife was there fer bout an hour without any takes on dries so i tied on the only crawfish in the box… 2 more casts across & up river and POW !!!, ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz… Took about 12 minutes to git it in… I gave her the crawfish after the picture was taken & my wife cought 3 from 13" to 18" then we went home… The 24"er was released back to the river after the picture was took… she kept 2 of her catch & released the 3rd…

Finally finnished the rod… YEA !!!

Congratulations are certainly deserved for your project rod. Looks like it didn’t forget any tunes while waiting for its new life.
