Going out this Friday for a trip we booked with William Heresniak, we would like to find somewhere to wade fish on Saturday for a few hours before the long drive back home. Any suggestions on something close by to Keyser WV that we could get access to?
There is the North Branch of the Potomac. The best trout water is the in the Catch and Release section below the Jennings Randolph Lake and Dam.
You can access this section at Barnum, WV.
The current flow is at 121 cfs., good for wade fishing.
But, be warned, if they should happen to be releasing water from the dam, anything over 300 cfs can be treacherous.
Thanks a bunch TwoWeight…depending on the weather, our outfitter may be changing the location for our trip. Due to the extreme water flow on the Potomac, float trips are not good right now. If we do stay in Keyser, I will be sure to give that spot a try and I will PM you with a report and pics.
Thanks for taking the time to reply…Best regards, Joe
