Kelly's directions got us here...

I found this picture on my phone last night. It’s from last summer (2010) in Idaho. Kelly was stove up and Mike had to work overtime and couldn’t get away. Kelly talked us onto this beautful spring creek in the backcountry SE of Heise. Thanks again Kelly. I pray you are feeling better and on the water again soon. Jim

Thanks Jim! Nothing in the world like that stretch of water. Its had a rough year with a couple of major flushes due to runoff and such, but it seems to be coming out of it well. Probably coming out of it better than I am from my last surgery. I’m still in a cast and on crutches. I see the doc next Tuesday and that will be 11 weeks since surgery and 21 months since the first surgery back on '09. I am optimistic, but my optimism is a bit reserved since it has taken so long…

Bright side is I’ve had the chance to tie a lot of flies and get some articles written. My wife (she’s a saint!) is about ready to throw me in the river, due to my complaining and pacing (an interesting thing to witness as I pace on crutches )

I am looking forward to fall fishing and hope that it will all pan out. Wish me luck.

Kelly.

Kelly,
I spent 10 months on crutches a number of years ago, so I can empathize with you. Look at the bright side, your upper body strength and grip should have improved much. I hope that you recover and get to dance around on those streambeds again.

Ed

Kelly,

I didn’t know you even had surgery.

Please accept my belated wished for a full recovery. Take care. Soon those fish will have you back stalking them.

Thanks, guys. You’re right about the upper body strength, but my calf muscle on the leg in the cast is all but non-existent, so I have some work to do.

Kelly.

Kelly,
I don’t know if you have a physical therapist or not, ut when you are to the point when you are allowed, flexibility exercises for your foot and ankle might do some real good in helping to revive your calf muscles. When I broke my ankle & leg, I had burns to go along with it and so couldn’t wear a cast. As soon as I was allowed, I started the exercises and pursued them on as vigourous a timetable as the doctor allowed. It really did help. I think that it also helps with the itching.
