Kayak Bass Fishing Site

Hello as a memeber here I would like to invite all of you to the Kayakbassfishing.com site, we are a good bunch of folks fishing for warm water species, and lots of monthly prizes, and fun. Im talking free kayaks, paddles, fishing rods, reels, etc, you name it they give it away.
we have a wonderful new Fly Fishing section, and I am the moderator Fly Tyer of the Year there, and welcome all of you to come join us. I am presently doing a New Tyer Contest inquiry with HMH, to sponsor a New Vise, and we have monthly Tying Contest which Fishpond, sponsors and gives up some very nice prizes.

Come join in on the fun!!!

Say, I’m not sure that you should be posting blatantly free advertising on the forum here.

Thanks for the inviation. I am an avid kayak bass fisherman (mainly flyfishing) and look forward to participating on your site.

wasnt trying to hurt anything here, just letting fellow fisherman about a site that has a good thing going, has actually gotten 1000 members in its first year, didnt mean to step on any toes, our site is a Non Profit, and all proceeds got to the Heroes ON The Water at the end of the year.
As I said they give away free kayaks, and My Hubby won one, and the Commander he won we donated to the Heroes ON The Water Chapter in SC.
I belong to lots of forums so I dont see the problem with telling people about another one they may like to be a memeber of as well.

Hi Kayakfish,

The kayak site looks like a nice place to spend a some time. Thanks for sharing. Also a big thanks to FAOL for allowing your post. Coexistence is a beautiful thing. 8T

Indeed, it may be another option for learning from people that kayak fish more than I’ve been able to the last couple of years. I love fishing from my kayak, and want to do a lot more of it.

One observation I’ve got about some of the “competitions” on that site. From my own personal point-of-view, they are skewed towards our Southern states. Guys down there are fishing and catching nice bass already…and we’ve still got 15" of ice on our waters. The Northern states are already handicapped from the point of view that our bass just don’t get as big as they can & do down south. It would be nice if there was a way to “level the playing field”. I don’t have a solution to offer…just a “wish”.

Thanks for posting the link, it looks like a very nice website! :o)

but Dave, you are mighty enough to overcome a short growing season…15" of ice is pretty brutal

You lived in Alaska for a number of years, Cordell…15" probably doesn’t seem like much compared to what you got there every winter.

But since we DO still have ice here…getting the kayak onto a lake isn’t really the problem, its getting a fly into the soft water that’s the tricky part. :o)

was never a fan of ice but had to use lakes as roads so I prefer 4ft ice myself…also no bass in Alaska to worry with…seems like bass would hate ice or water that cold…anyway, I probably will have to learn bass fishings finer details because all the peacocks here froze to death…I got my new kayaks to learn as well…waiting for warmer weather here but I did see tadpoles in the water yesterday

Dang! That’s the bad news I was hoping I wouldn’t hear! What did survive in the canals? Other exotics make it? Oscars, tilapia, etc.?

The fishing site has contest all year long and there will be great prizes all year long, and you dont have to get the so called BAss Pass, but it alone if you win one of the extra pickings will pay back your Bass Pass, plus I believe that 50% of the Bass PAss and registration fees got to Heroes On The Water, which is a great organization that my husband and I support all the time.
We actually just had a get together here on the local waters in VA, and the weather was brutal, 20’s at night and they camped out, in tents, went fishing the mornings as soon as it got worm enough and then did it all over againg the next day a full weekend event, water temps in the 40’s, there was one nice Bass caught at 24" nine pounds, but everyone elee was skunked. I fly fish as well and I ws just fishing to get the old arm back in routine.
we would love to have you guys we had people there this weekend from TX, PA, NY, TN, OHIO, etc, they loved it.

I havent seen any fish at all in my canals…ZERO…everything gone, even iguanas and lots of ducks died…not to hijack this thread though, sorry…

I’m further north than Bonefishwhisperer, East Central Fl, and the cold weather we had here killed TONS of armored catfish and tilapia, but did not see any bass, bluegill, or crappie. Too far north for the peacocks here tho’.

thanks, kayakfish for the info.
it would be great to hear some bass and bream, maybe crappie news, what’s biting, what they’re eating, general info. you know. i’ve been posting a few threads here on faol, but mostly i feel the guys on this site are trout, steelhead, salmon, etc. fishers. i’ve met some great guys in the chat room and love to hear what they catch. can i get a count of the guys in the SE? come on, ya’ll. let it be known you are fishing!

There’s a very good number of people here who fly-fish warmwater…its just that many of us haven’t been able to find open water for the last 3+ months, so you haven’t been seeing many reports about warmwater fish.

Hang around, the warmwater season will be starting soon! ;o)

Dave -

It ain’t just you warmwater guys who are waiting for some reports about warmwater fish and fishing. Some of us “trout” guys are looking forward to them, also.

Just one favor - please don’t show any pics of brutally ugly catfish like you did last year a couple times.

John

No promises John! LOL! How 'bout I’ll title the posts “Warning - Catfish Pictures!”, so you won’t be caught unaware and you can choose to skip those posts?
Or…even better…I’ll just show pics of the handsome catfish.

Just because they don’t have rainbow colors doesn’t make them ugly! LoL
First time John I saw your trout pictures I thought they looked kind ugly because their mouths were so tiny and just a little slit on the side. The fish I love to see on the line have wide fat heads and whiskers!
