I was given a tanned kangaroo hide today. I have some ideas for using it but was wondering if any from down under or elsewhere knew of some fly patterns that called for kangaroo.
all leaders tangle; mine are just better at it than most. Jim

Jim,
I read somewhere that it is great for hopper patterns… I will see if I can find my reference again

You’re sick Christie… sick, sick, sick!
The underfur makes excellent dubbing for scuds. Look up Roo’s as a scud pattern and you’ll see what I mean. Also, I find that the tail fur is nice and stiff and makes excellent tailing material.

Thanks JC, I almost missed the hopper thing…
I have had a kangaroo hide for 10 years but never found a pattern that was originallt tied with Kangaroo hair. I will keep my eyes on this post.
Cheers

Not so not so… it is actually the perfect material for upside-down patterns.
Sheesh… and I have to tell you, YOU, of all people…
