Pretty nice John. Whoda thunk you had California poppies in Idaho? Jim
Thanks John! I really enjoy the photos posted on here, whether they are fishing related or not. When I get bored with my desktop at work, can always find something cool here to replace it!
Real nice quality pics John, what camera do you shoot with?

These were taken with a Canon EOS Rebel Xsi with their 55-250mm Image Stabilizer lens set at 55mm with the camera in the “close up” mode. It doesn’t match a macro but it does take pretty good images from about 5’ away.
Would like to get a macro lens for this camera - the images would be absolute dynamite, I am sure - but the macro lens is pretty expensive. Maybe on down the road.

P.S. I’ve only had the Rebel Xsi for a few months, but I have been delighted with how simple it is to use and the images it produces. Also, there was some software packaged with it that let’s you do some really interesting things.

This pic was taken with an Olympus 850SW, but the graphics were added with the software that came with the Rebel.
Good choice in camera John:cool: I picked up a 20D myself back in the spring that I’ve been getting use to. Can’t go wrong with any Canon products:cool:
Have you tried a set of Macro extension tubes yet on that lens? I picked up some ext tubes for mine rather than spend the extra money on Macro lens and it cuts down my focal length with my Sigma 18-200mm lens from 19" down to about 8". Of course a dedicated Macro lens is the best way to go, but for $20 the macro ext tubes really are worth the price to play with.

Not familiar with the extension tubes of which you speak.
I do have macro on my Olympus 850SW which does take a pretty decent pic. For example, went just outside again a few minutes ago and shot a couple pics offhand with a slight breeze on the subject.
And a little bit closer.
I know a macro on the Rebel will do much better than these shots. But for the time being, the Olympus will do.
